Sizing decides this one. The 17.5-inch version needs a sink narrower than 15.2 inches, since the rack must land on the rim at both ends rather than inside the bowl. Four sizes exist in the range; this is the 17.5 by 13 inch.

Silicone is moulded around steel wire, so the mat grips instead of skating about, and no metal touches the ceramic.

Heat tolerance runs to 400°F (204°C), which puts a pan straight from the hob within its remit as readily as a stack of wet bowls.

Load figures need a caveat: the maker quotes 80 lb, well above what a 1.76 lb mat suggests by eye. Treat it as generous rather than exact.

Rolling it up shortens the footprint to whatever width suits the cupboard. A manual comes in the carton.
