Depth is the fixed dimension here, at 17 inches front to back, so the drawer must swallow that before anything else matters. Width is the adjustable one, sliding from 13.3 inches to 20.2 inches and taking the tray from seven compartments up to nine as it goes.

Walls stand 2.5 inches high, taller than the usual 2-inch cutlery tray, with curved grooves along the compartment floors. Compartments differ in size, sized for standard forks and spoons, steak knives, and longer serving utensils in the wider bays.

The frame is organic bamboo with thick sides and a solid base, so knife tips cannot slide beneath the dividers, and the corners use mortise and tenon joints rather than staples. Eight large silicone feet underneath stop it shifting or rattling as the drawer travels. Weight is 5 pounds.

Measure the drawer before ordering: 17 inches of depth and 2.5 inches of clearance are needed at minimum. Being bamboo, it wants wiping by hand and drying; no dishwasher, and no standing water.
