The two halves are not two shelves. One part carries four legs, the other two, and the second slides along the first to set a length anywhere between 12.3" and 22.5". Used apart, the two-leg piece has nothing to stand on at one end.

Slatted steel makes up the deck, so air moves through and items can sit above as well as below: jars underneath, tins on top, or the reverse. The frame is high-strength steel with a polyethylene coating against corrosion, finished in black. It wipes clean, and it will sit square across a shelf or skewed into an awkward corner.

Slip-resistant sleeves push onto the feet before first use and stop the shelf marking a worktop. Depth is 9.5" and height 5.5". Listed weight is 0.62 lb, which the maker quotes but which reads low for a steel frame this size.
