Utoplike Expandable Bamboo Drawer Organiser, 3 to 5 Slots, Widens 12.6 to 22 in

Widening is the whole idea: slide the two halves apart and the tray grows from three compartments to five, spanning anywhere between 12.6 and 22 inches across.

Check the drawer cavity first. Inside depth must reach 17.5 inches, inside width should fall between 13 and 22.5 inches, and 2.5 inches of clearance is needed under the runners.

The pair of slots that appear once it is pulled open are the widest ones, which suits ladles, spatulas and other long-handled pieces that never sit neatly beside teaspoons.

Bamboo rather than moulded plastic, polished smooth and sealed under varnish, so it resists cracking through daily opening and closing.

Nothing confines it to cutlery. Pens and desk clutter, or jewellery on a bedroom chest, settle into it just as well.
