Two of the six bays are wrap dispensers with cutting blades; the other four hold gallon, quart, sandwich and snack bags. A roll must be 12 inches long or less and under 2 inches in diameter to seat in the dispenser section, which rules out catering-size foil.

The lid snaps shut on magnets across a 2.6-inch opening, wide enough to draw a bag out one-handed and close again with a nudge of the wrist.

Blades are grade 304 stainless, so they will not corrode in a damp drawer, and they part the film cleanly instead of tearing it. Scissors stay in the drawer where they belong.

Bamboo throughout, oil-rubbed black, splinter-free, with anti-skid pads beneath. Nothing needs assembling.

It measures 16.9" wide, 3.2" deep and 3.2" high, holds a quoted 12 litres, and weighs 4 lb. Laid in a drawer, stood on a worktop or fixed to a wall, it behaves the same way.
