These lie down. Long pasta goes in flat and the box slides lengthways into a deep cupboard, so the far end of the cupboard stays reachable and dried spaghetti does not have to be snapped to fit a standing jar.

Four boxes, all 3.2 litres — 2.9 quarts, 108 fl oz — each said to take 8 lb of spaghetti. Outside measurements are 10.8 by 5.2 by 4.6 inches.

The lids snap at the sides. Thick to handle, the maker says, but not a fight to open, with a rubber gasket holding air and damp out.

Twenty-four reusable labels and two measuring cups come with the four.
