That board needs looking after. Keep it clean and dry between uses, never leave it standing in water, and keep cooking oil off it. Letting it air out at intervals is what preserves the absorbency.

The rack itself is 304 stainless steel, picked for rust resistance in a spot that is permanently wet.

A utensil caddy lifts away, split into compartments so forks, spoons and knives are not fished out of one common pot.
