Rods of 304 stainless steel, joined by silicone edging, roll into a bundle the size of a rolling pin when the sink is needed again.

This is the 17.7 by 15.5 inch version; the range also runs to 17.7 by 12.5 and 21 by 15.5, so the one to buy depends on the span of your own sink.

Silicone strips along both long edges stop it creeping across a stainless workstation. With every rod in use the maker quotes 70 lb, enough for a stack of wet pans.

Set flat on the worktop, it takes a hot tin off the oven without marking anything, or holds washed vegetables while they drain. Hand washing and machine washing both suit it.

Grade 304 rather than 201 stainless, with food-safe silicone edges, and it weighs 0.8 lb.
